Like in Demon's Souls, in Dark Souls souls are the currency used for leveling up and purchasing various items such as consumables, weapons and some key items. Souls are obtained by killing enemies, using retrieved soul items or successfully aiding an online human player in killing a boss. Items can not be sold for souls, however, they can be fed to Kingseeker Frampt for a small amount of souls.
